About Physiatry

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also known as physiatrists, treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles and tendons.

The specialty is strong and continues to grow, thanks to Dr. Frank H. Krusen, who worked with 13 pioneering physiatrists to establish physical medicine and rehabilitation as a specialty in 1936.
