Membership Types
Senior
Fellow members have been in good standing for
15 or more years and have retired from their practice or other position
constituting the principal source of their professional income.
Life
Life members have paid 15 years’ dues in one lump sum.
Fellow
A Fellow has passed both Part 1 and Part 2 of the
examination of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
(ABPM&R) and is thus a Diplomate of the ABPM&R.
Associate
An Associate member has completed training in an
approved PM&R residency program.
Academic/Researcher
An Academic/Researcher is a non-physician health care
professional with a PhD and current academic appointment in a division or
department that includes PM&R within an accredited North American Medical School.
Corresponding
Corresponding members reside outside the United States,
are legally qualified to practice medicine, and have training and experience
comparable to Diplomates of the ABPMR.
Inactive
Inactive members are those in good standing who
are enduring a period of protracted hardship or illness.
Honorary
Honorary members have performed outstanding or unique
services (nationally or internationally) in the field of PM&R, and are
otherwise ineligible to be Fellow or Associate members or Senior Fellows.
Affiliate (Resident)
Affiliate members are full-time residents
training in an approved PM&R residency program or in an approved program in a
related medical specialty as part of a combined residency program; or are
full-time physicians in an approved program studying for a graduate degree
related to training in PM&R.
Part-Time Fellow
Part-time fellows are semi-retired in practice.
Medical Student
Medical student members are full time
students in good standing in an accredited medical school pursuing a Doctor of
Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree. |back to top|
