Open sessions may be attended by all registered Annual Assembly attendees, at no additional cost. There are two types of open sessions:

90-Minute Courses

These are educational sessions organized around a single theme. They may include several speakers, panel discussions, or group discussions. All courses are 90 minutes. They are designated with a three-digit number, except workshops. Some 90-minute courses are in the form of clinical pearls. Clinical pearls are educational sessions incorporating scientific paper presentations with several short clinical pearl presentations from the same topic area.

Poster Grand Rounds

A 60-minute educational, moderated session designed to discuss research methodology of commonly themed posters.

Workshops

New Courses Just Added

W325: How to Review a Scientific Manuscript - Complimentary (I)

W330-03: Practice Performance Assessment: Getting Started with a Practice Improvement Project (PIP) -  Complimentary (I)

All workshops are ticketed sessions and are available on a first-come, first-served basis to registered attendees. Each attendee may pre-register for three (3) workshops and must rank their choices on the registration form. Additional tickets may be sold onsite if space is available. Early registration is encouraged to reserve a spot for these popular sessions.

Note: This year, three (3) interactive workshops will be complimentary. For all other workshops, there is a fee.  

There are two types of workshops – both are 90 minutes in length and have limited seating. Workshop session numbers begin with W.

Hands-On Workshops

This workshop is practice-oriented and provides supervised hands-on experience, usually following a demonstration. Hands-on workshops are designated in this program with an (HO) following the title.

Interactive Workshops

This second type of workshop is highly interactive and focused in scope. Interactive workshops are designated in this program with an (I) following the title.

Level

Sessions have been designated by the session director as:

  • Basic: introductory and assumes no or minimal prior knowledge of the concepts presented.

  • Intermediate: moderate complexity designed to update or advance current knowledge and skills. Assumes prior knowledge of the topic presented.

  • Advanced: cutting-edge, state-of-the-art information. Assumes a high level of prior knowledge, skill, and competency.


Scientific Poster Presentations

Poster presenters will give brief oral descriptions of their studies and participate in one-on-one discussions with interested attendees, on Saturday, November 22, 9:30 am–11 am.
