Resident Program & Events
The AAPM&R Annual Assembly is an excellent opportunity for residents in PM&R
programs to learn more about the specialty, both inside and outside of the
classroom. This year’s educational programming includes workshops designed
around the clinical setting.

Resident Track
Thursday, November 20
R700, R701, and R702 are complimentary workshops designated
for residents. However, these workshops are not automatically included with
residents’ meeting registration fees. Because they are limited-attendance
workshops due to content and hands-on participation, residents must register for
available spaces. Please see page 64 of the registration form for details.
Thursday, November 207:30 am–9 am
R700. Physical Examination of the Shoulder Region (I)
Level: Basic
Faculty: M. Geraci, MD; B. Krabak, MD, MBA
This workshop is a resident-only program designed to teach
the fundamental skills needed to examine the shoulder region. Residents will
observe a comprehensive physical examination of the shoulder region performed by
an expert in PM&R. Residents will then separate into pairs to review the
specific examination skills under the guidance of a faculty member.

R701. Introduction to Musculoskeletal Ultrasound (I)
Level: Basic
Faculty: P. Lento, MD; J. Smith, MD; J. Strakowski, MD
This workshop is designed to teach the general
terminology, clinical indications, and the utility of using high-frequency
ultrasound for common musculoskeletal conditions. The session will also
incorporate live demonstrations of common musculoskeletal applications.

R702. Introduction to Imaging: Head, Cervical Spine, and
Shoulder (I)
Level: Intermediate
Faculty: K. Bell, MD; L. Chou, MD; Z. Hauser, MD; G.
Kraft, MD, MS; C. Plastaras, MD; J. Rittenberg, MD
This workshop is a resident-only program designed to teach
the fundamental skills needed for musculoskeletal and neuro-imaging
interpretation. Under the guidance of faculty members, residents will develop
systematic techniques to evaluate cervical spine and shoulder plain films,
shoulder and cervical spine MR images, head CT, and brain MR images.
Resident Events
Job Fair
Wednesday, November 19: 6 pm–9 pm San Diego Marriott Hotel
The Job Fair is designed to facilitate the face-to-face
exchange of information between individuals looking to hire PM&R specialists and
those seeking positions. Although interviews may not be conducted at the Job
Fair, applicants should bring ample copies of their curriculum vitae. The fee to
attend is included in the Annual Assembly registration fee, and the Job Fair is
only open to Annual Assembly registrants. Click here to

Residents’ Reception
Friday, November 21: 6 pm–7 pm San Diego Marriott Hotel
Keeping with tradition, residents will have the
opportunity to network with each other at this cocktail reception.
