Resources for Foreign Medical Graduates Interested in PM&R
Internationally trained physicians who wish to pursue a
PM&R residency in the United States or Canada should find the links below
of use in finding general information about programs, requirements, testing,
visas, etc. These links are intended as a resource and do not answer specific
questions regarding individual PM&R program requirements, or medical school affiliations.
Answers for more specific questions should be directed to either your school,
or the school to which you wish to apply.

Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)
Good starting point for International Students.
Gives certification requirements, links with information, etc.
- National Residency
Matching Program (NRMP)
Detailed instructional guides to help you understand and
navigate the Main Match and Specialty Matches.
- Electronic
Residency Application Service (ERAS)
A service that transmits residency applications and supporting
credential from medical schools to residency programs via the Internet.

Medical Association (AMA)
Medical Student
Section. Student-oriented
area of the American Medical Association Web site. Includes useful
information on medical education in the United States. To

International Medical Graduates page — lots of really good general (and specific) information. A wealth of
resource material. Focus tends to be on Internal Medicine, but the
general application-related procedures are the same.

An association of medical schools, teaching hospitals, and
academic and scientific societies. Information on medical education in the
United States.

Medical Boards (FSMB)
Information on state-specific licensure requirements.

Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)
Information on taking the exam, including eligibility
requirements, test dates, and an on-line application.
