What this database IS NOT
We hope this database will be a helpful tool as you gather information about
fellowships; however, we must be clear about what our new database does and
does not do.
This fellowship database is an informational service offered to AAPM&R
members. The information contained in the database was submitted voluntarily by
a variety of institutions and compiled from several resources. AAPM&R did not
review, evaluate, or provide input regarding these listings. Please keep in
mind that the database listings are not necessarily complete. Inclusion of a
program does not imply sponsorship or endorsement by AAPM&R.
This database is not affiliated with nor endorsed by the American Board of
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) in any way. Completion of any of
the listed fellowships does not guarantee satisfaction of ABPMR eligibility
requirements. If you are applying for a fellowship, it is recommended that you
fully investigate eligibility requirements for each program.

Subspecialty Certification
The ABPMR holds active membership in the American Board
of Medical Specialties (ABMS), which functions in cooperation with the
Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association. The ABMS
has granted the ABPMR the right to offer subspecialty certification in
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Medicine, Pain Medicine, Pediatric Rehabilitation
Medicine, Sports Medicine, Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and
Neuromuscular Medicine.
Visit the ABPMR Web site at
https://www.abpmr.org/certification/subspecialties/index.html for specific
details and current listings of ACGME-accredited fellowship programs.
ACGME is the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
ACGME reviews and approves subspecialty program requirements developed and
submitted by the PM&R Residency Review Committee (RRC). The RRC is organized
under ACGME. In order for a fellowship to be ACGME-accredited, it must be
affiliated and sponsored by an ACGME-accredited residency training program
(anything accredited by ACGME is officially referred to as a residency).
