Medscape and AAPM&R Collaborating on Release of PM&R Compensation Information

Apr 18, 2017

The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) 2017 Compensation Study will launch in May, and we are excited to announce that we will be collaborating with Medscape on release of select findings. The leading website for physicians, medical students, and other healthcare providers, Medscape will cover some key findings from the study, increasing awareness of the specialty’s scope and value to health care, and making it visible to medical students, early career physicians, and practicing physiatrists looking for PM&R compensation data. Medscape is also considering other PM&R-specific information regarding compensation and other professional areas of interest to physiatrists in the future.

This exciting collaboration follows discussion with Medscape to ensure representation of Physiatry in the Medscape Physician Compensation Report 2017. Female physiatrists sent an open letter via Twitter to Medscape, requesting that the AAPM&R follow suit.  Medscape responded positively to these united efforts.

All Physiatrists are encouraged to complete the study so that statistically significant data is acquired and data representing the diverse clinical areas of the specialty can be reported. Versions of the study will be available, including an in-depth report that will allow for data manipulation based on key data sets. Additional details about the study will be available soon on www.aapmr.org.
