AAPM&R-RPC
Resident’s Research Packet
Dear
PM&R Resident,
The
goal of the Resident’s Research Packet is to help you understand what it
takes to do a research project. This packet was written by PM&R residents
for those who have not done clinical research. It is practical in its
approach, providing some theory and many useful tips that we hope will help
you get started. This new edition
includes a complete update of all reference lists, including the addition of
web site addresses.
Good
research is always important to advance science and medicine. It is
particularly important in PM&R. We need quality research to validate those
treatments that we now believe to be effective, as well as new and better
treatments for our patients. We hope that your research career will extend far
beyond your residency. Please consider doing additional research and getting
additional research training. Several options for research training are
outlined in the Beyond Residency section of this document.
If you have any recommendations,
ideas, or comments about the research packet, please feel free to contact the
chair of the AAPM&R Research Committee.
Good luck with your research!
Sincerely,
AAPM&R
Research Committee
