On Friday September 10, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced $25.5 billion in new COVID-19 provider funding. This includes $17 billion for the Provider Relieve Fund (PRF) Phase 4 as well as $8.5 billion in resources for providers who serve rural Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicare patients. PRF funding will be based on lost revenues and expenditures between July 1, 2020, and March 31, 2021. HHS also announced a 60-day grace period for providers seeking to comply with the PRF Reporting Time Period deadline of September 30, 2021.
