Academy Members Assist AHRQ With Low Back Pain Review | Academy members Jana Friedly, MD and Thiru Annaswamy, MD, played key roles in developing the recent Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) evidence-based comparative effectiveness review on noninvasive treatments for low back pain. The review concluded that more research is needed to understand optimal selection of treatments, effective combinations and sequencing of treatments, effectiveness of treatments for radicular low back pain, and effectiveness on outcomes other than pain and function. 2016 PQRS Reporting: Avoiding 2018 Negative Payment Adjustments Call—Registration Now Open | The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is hosting a call covering the 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and related resources. The presentation will cover guidance and instructions on how individual eligible professionals and PQRS group practices can get started, satisfactorily report/participate, and avoid the 2018 PQRS negative payment adjustment. 2016 PQRS GPRO Registration is Now Open | Groups can register to participate in the 2016 PQRS Group Reporting Option (GPRO) via the Physician Value—Physician Quality Reporting System (PV-PQRS) Registration System. PQRS GPRO is an option available to groups with 2 or more eligible professionals (EPs). Groups must meet the satisfactory reporting criteria through the PQRS GPRO in order to avoid the -2.0% CY 2018 PQRS payment adjustment. Learn more. | |
2015 Mid-Year QRURs Available | CMS has released the 2015 Mid-Year Quality and Resource Use Reports (QRURs) to groups and solo practitioners nationwide, including those who participated in the Shared Savings Program, the Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) model or the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) initiative in 2015. Open Payments Physician and Teaching Hospital Review and Dispute Period Began April 1 | The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the beginning of the 45-day Open Payments Review and dispute period beginning Friday, April 1, 2016. After the conclusion of the review and dispute period on May 15, CMS will publish the 2015 payment data and updates to the 2013 and 2014 data on June 30, 2016. Learn more. | |
