CDC Releases New Research and HEADS UP Fact Sheet on Playground Safety

Playgrounds provide an important opportunity for children to have fun, explore, and grow. Children learn through play and need opportunities to take risks, test their limits, and learn new skills through free play. Unfortunately, injuries can happen on the playground, even serious ones. A new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study finds that emergency departments see more than 20,000 kids (ages 14 and under) for playground-related traumatic brain injury (TBI) each year. Learn more about promoting playground safety here.

Your Academy receives notices from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) MedWatch program, and other sources when there is a patient safety announcement that could affect PM&R practices. A new patient safety notice is available on PharMEDium Sterile Preparations Compounded With a Single Recalled Lot of Fresenius Kabi Sensorcaine-MPF (bupivacaine HCl).
