Quality Tool Boxes

The Performance Metrics Committee, in collaboration with the Member Councils, developed Quality Tool Boxes (QTBs) for specific health conditions, including spina bifida, mild TBI, chronic axial low back pain, and osteoporosis. The QTBs are web-based resources for Academy members, which include existing tools specifically tailored for physiatric practice. Learn more.

Inpatient Rehab Recommended for Stroke Rehab

The American Heart Association/American Stroke Association (AHA/ASA) has issued its first guidelines on adult stroke rehabilitation calling for intensive, multidisciplinary treatment. AAPM&R member Joel Stein, MD, co-chaired the development of this first-ever issued guideline, along with Academy members Barbara Bates, MD, MBA; Richard L. Harvey, MD; and Richard Zorowitz, MD, who served as co-authors. Learn more.

Young Investigators Urged to Apply for USBJI Grant Mentoring Program

The United States Bone and Joint Initiative (USBJI) and Bone and Joint Canada are dedicated to increasing research of musculoskeletal diseases and has developed a grant mentoring program to provide early-career investigators an opportunity to work with experienced researchers to assist them in securing funding and other survival skills required for pursuing an academic career.

The fall workshop will be held November 4-6, 2016 in Toronto, Ontario. The deadline to apply is July 15, 2016. Learn more and apply for this program.
