Your Academy is pleased to support a PM&R-specific compensation study! The scope of the survey is to collect and report 2016 market compensation and productivity benchmarks for physiatrists, with detailed information on practice characteristics, physician demographics, clinical activities, income levels, compensation plan structure, and benefits. AAPM&R is working with ECG Management Consultants, an independent and neutral third-party who will be conducting the survey.

All physiatrists received an email from AAPM&R on Friday, May 19, which included a source ID. For the security of all physiatrists' compensation data, your unique source ID and email address are required to participate in the survey. If you experience any issues, please contact Angie Collins at ECG at acollins@ecgmc.com.

We are pleased to introduce Dr. Susan Hubbell as the new American Medical Association (AMA) Delegation Chair/PM&R Section Council Chair and Dr. Stuart Glassman as the second delegate to the AMA House of Delegates (HOD). The Senate has begun work on its own bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act (ACA) after the House of Representatives narrowly passed H.R. 1628, the American Health Care Act (AHCA), earlier this month. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has acknowledged that the process in the Senate will be neither simple nor quick, but pledged to continue work on a repeal and replace measure without outlining a timeframe for the bill.

On Thursday, May 18, your Academy attended a House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee hearing, “The Current Status of the Medicare Program, Payment Systems, and Extenders." The subcommittee’s hearing focused on opportunities to create more efficiency in Medicare and better serve the more than 50 million seniors who receive care through its many programs. In his opening remarks, Health Subcommittee Chairman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) emphasized the need for reform in the Medicare program—including PAC.
