  • Steven Bou, MD, recently joined Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital to support its brain injury program. He recently completed a fellowship in brain injury medicine from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI, following a PM&R residency at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH.   • Leslie Cavazos, MD, has joined St. Luke’s Physical Medicine and Rehab Associates in Duluth, MN. She recently completed her PM&R residency, as well as a fellowship in cancer rehabilitation at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Prior to joining St. Luke’s, Dr. Cavazos volunteered at a drug rehabilitation center and co-founded an acupuncture practice. Congratulations, Dr. Cavazos! Read more.

  • Nadeem Hussain, MD, MPH, medical director of Kenmore Mercy Hospital’s Medical Rehabilitation Unit in Buffalo, NY, has received the hospital’s annual “Doctor of Distinction” award for 2016. Congratulations, Dr. Hussain! Read more.
  • Jeff Kramer, MD, physiatrist at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, recently joined as a new board member of Alternatives in Motion (AIM), a nonprofit providing donated mobility equipment and repair services to those in need. Congratulations, Dr. Kramer! Read more.
  • Peter Moley, MD, physiatrist at the Hospital for Special Surgery, is helping "Good Morning America" co-anchor Lara Spencer with her rehabilitation after her hip replacement surgery, which was scheduled for August 13. Read more.
  • W. Jerry Mysiw, MD, chairman of the department of PM&R at Ohio State, discusses his team’s 5-year research study to find whether deep-brain stimulation, which uses electricity to regulate, block or stimulate brain waves, could improve patients with severe traumatic brain injuries. Read more.
  • UPDATE—Jonathan Myers, MD, medical director of rehabilitation at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center, and his rehabilitation team reached the peak of Mount Borah on August 17 for a fundraising effort for new medical equipment. Dr. Myers is a spinal cord injury survivor and uses his personal experience to better relate to his patients. Congratulations, Dr. Myers! Read more.
  • Edward Nash, MD, physiatrist at the KSF Orthopaedic Center, is featured in a new article where he discusses physiatry’s approach to pain management. Read more.
  • Chloe Slocum, MD, was recently named the 2016-2017 Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellow in Minority Health Policy by the Harvard Medical School Office of Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Fellows are chosen from all fields of medicine and surgery in the United States and there were only 4 that were awarded this year.
