In February 2023 we announced that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) published a Notice of Intent to Publish Funding Opportunity to expand access to comprehensive, coordinated and person-centered care for people with Long COVID. We are thrilled to announce that on April 10, 2023, AHRQ released its Notice of Funding Opportunity on “Implementing and Evaluating New Models for Delivering Comprehensive, Coordinated, Person-Centered Care to People with Long COVID.”
This notice of funding opportunity will fund up to nine multidisciplinary Long COVID clinics to:
- Develop and implement new or improved care delivery models
- Provide services to more people with Long COVID
- Expand services offered
- Strengthen care coordination
- Implement and share best practices for Long COVID management
- Support the primary care community in Long COVID education and management
- Evaluate project success
- Disseminate project findings
There is a total of $9 million available for this funding opportunity, and each application is capped at $1 million in any given year or a total cap of $5 million across multiple years, for a max of five years. AHRQ notes that future year funds are dependent upon future appropriations, so clinics should expect that this is an application for $1 million for a year and the possibility of future awards in the same budget range. The deadline to apply is June 12, 2023. Learn more.
This important funding opportunity is a win for PM&R as leaders in Long COVID rehabilitation and is a direct result of the tireless efforts of AAPM&R volunteers. Find more information on AAPM&R’s Long COVID efforts here.
