AAPM&R recently participated in a series of congressional meetings in support of S. 800— Enhancing the Stature and Visibility of Medical Rehabilitation Research at the NIH Act. This bill seeks to strengthen rehabilitation research coordination at the National Institutes of Health. Many of the S. 800 advocacy efforts are being conducted through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Coalition (DRRC), which AAPM&R is a steering committee member. The bill has already received unanimous bipartisan support and passage in the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee and is gaining strong bipartisan support in the House of Representatives.
