Support American Stroke Month

May 1, 2017, 10:26 AM by Grace Whittington

American Stroke Month RibbonEach year, approximately 795,000 people suffer a stroke. About 600,000 of these are first attacks, and 185,000 are recurrent attacks.3 Plus, more than half (58%) of Americans don’t even know if they’re at risk for stroke.1 That’s why the American Stroke Association established American Stroke Month, recognized every May, to help increase public awareness about the warning signs of stroke, symptoms of a stroke, stroke prevention, and the impact of stroke on survivors, families, and caregivers.

AAPM&R is diligently advocating for physiatrists who practice stroke rehabilitation. Learn about our resources and efforts.
