On June 24, 2020, your Academy supported a coalition letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in opposition to their recent Directive and Memorandum. The letter urges the VA to amend Directive 1899 to defer to state scope of practice laws for non-physician health care professionals in 32 specialties and to rescind the related Memorandum as it encouraged all VA medical facilities to allow CRNAs to practice without physician oversight during the national health emergency.
